Morning Star Dance Academy
Founded in 2004, MorningStar Dance Academy of Atlanta (MSDA) offers high quality training in classical ballet, pointe, contemporary dance, jazz, character dance, and Chinese traditional folk dance. The school's teaching methods offer students an age appropriate, challenging, and enjoyable program that combines personal enrichment with technical preparation for professional work.
The academy already has a website but it is outdated and does not function well. It also needs improvements made so that it is more friendly to mobile users.
MorningStar Dance needs a new website would serve as a hub of all information and integrate with current social media. The team has evaluated the current site and has designed/developed a new site using Wix.

Choosing Wix
There was a lot to take into consideration when we were choosing what platform to use for the new MorningStar Dance Academy site. We needed a solid website hosting provider that was not costly but still provided the things we needed; like storage for media, fast load times, and a public facing website that we could easily work on. We also needed a sort of backup and recover feature so that we could quickly revert any changes if needed or restore the site without much downtime. We also needed a solid piece of software that allows us to create the new site with the features that we wanted to use.
We spent a substantial amount of our time researching options that could satisfy all of our needs and found ourselves weighing out pros and cons between Wix and WordPress. Both platforms provide developers easy ways of creating content and pages for websites with built in themes and tools that provide a good start. SEO also works well with both.
We feel that WordPress would have been a great option but decided to go with Wix because the support is much better. We would have to rely on WordPress community forums for any issues, where as with Wix there is a dedicated support team that you can reach out to if you have any issues. We also felt that we would be able to more efficiently tackle this Capstone Project given the time we had working together as a team with Wix.
